Review: Sony ICD-SX813 IC Recorder

We love to hear Sony introduced a light weight Linear PCM quality IC Recorder !  Besides the basic features, ICD-SX813 supports TWO position built-in microphone for high quality recording.

 

Need to add an external microphone?  The red color port (in the above picture) shows the Microphone Jack which supports Stereo.  Need MP3 Playback?  Yes, you can use it as a MP3 player as well.  The headphone jack is located right besides the microphone jack (as shown above).

Built-in Memory is 4GB and supports BOTH M2 or microSD cards.  We inserted a 8GB SDHC microSD Card into the player.  It works perfectly fine.  However, we still don’t know the max memory card support yet.

It uses TWO AAA Size batteries and it is very easy to do battery replacement.

Both Stand and Wind Screen come with the package.

1. Does it support Mac and Windows?
Ans: Yes, it supports Mac OS X (v10.2.8-v10.6) and Win 7/Vista/XP. Please note: 64 bit version of Windows XP are not supported.

2. Which files does it support?
Ans: MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC and LPEC.  Please note: AAC-LC files (.m4a) only.  May not playback WMA/AAC files with copyright protection.

3. Is this Japanese or English version (both Software and User Manual)?
Ans: This version is 100% in English.

4. Does it come with a Sony Headphone in the package?
Ans: Yes, the package comes with some nice accessories such as Stereo Headphone for Noise Cancelling, Telephone Recording Microphone, Wind Screen, Stand, Carrying Pouch, USB Cable, Two Batteries, Sound Organizer software.

5. Does it support Speech Recognition Software?
Ans: Yes

6. What is the Built-In Memory Recording Time?
Ans: 1073 Hours (MP3 8kbps)
